Employers may be penalised for not meeting their obligations under the Contract Cleaning Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 2005.
To avoid penalties, employers should ensure they register with QLeave and complete and forward their Employer Return and levy payment to QLeave within 14 days of the end of each return period.
The value of a penalty unit has increased to $126.15, effective 1 July 2017. Refer s.5 of the Penalties and Sentences Act 1992.
Employers who fail to submit their employer return and/or fail to pay the levy by the due date incur a single penalty unit ($126.15) for each breach of the legislation, that is $252 if both the employer return and levy is not received on time.
Employers who incur a penalty on more than one occasion in a 12 month period incur a double penalty unit ($252) for each breach of the legislation, that is $504 if both the employer return and levy is not received on time.
Note: The penalty is incurred the day after the due date and a further penalty is incurred for each month or part thereof the return and/or levy remains outstanding.
